Resolutions? Schmesolutions!

Happy New Year! I always get excited as a new year approaches and love to get my Resolutions in order. They're always pretty much the same ones, unfortunately. I have given the advice that every day is the beginning of a New Year, whether it's January 1st or May 14th. So why have I had a hard time getting that through to my own thought pattern. So that's what this blog is about - changing habits. And I hope I have friends who will join me, motivate me as I motivate them, be there for one another and perhaps have others would like to guest blog about motivation.

Since I'm a writer, and in the company of writers, I really want to get motivated into the habit of writing every day instead of just when I feel like it. I haven't worked outside the home in a few years, so I've lost that Sunday night panic, but I've also lost that "It's 9 a.m. so I should be at work now" feeling too.

I've had some health issues that kept me down and out for a while, so the biggest thing I have to do is move around more. It's been too easy to stay home and miss out on some good things in life. That's going to change. I eat pretty well, even over the holidays, so that wasn't really an issue. It's the moving around thing.

I know there's other things I could change, but that's enough for now. I just want to know....is there anyone willing to join me on this one year adventure?

  1. I am sooo excited that you made this first step by creating your blog!!! I am a writer, as you know, and I also need to set goals for my writing as well as health goals. I need to get my butt motivated again with my writing, but I also need to get my butt out of this chair and enjoy all the other things in life besides my computer!! Therefore, I raise my glass of diet soda .... "To our new beginning. May we both get motivated in 2010 and accomplish all of our many dreams. After all, dreams really do come true!"

    XOXO

  2. Hi Debra,

I too need to get motivated and am so glad you are blogging. I love reading blogs, even if I don't write on of my own....no time to watch Days Of Our Lives, and of course nobody wants to read my commentary on that, lol. But I will definitely tune into your blog, as often as I can.

  3. I'm on board! In past years I spent New Year's vacation thinking hard about past and present, and writing well-considered resolutions that lasted until approximately January 3. Of course it was massively guilt-provoking! I've given up the formal resolution business, but I still have directions in which I want to move, in health, fitness, home and work areas of my life. So I'm happy to follow along, and join in as I can.

  4. Congratulations! Now I am one of your sheep. I would love to guest blog sometime for you. My blog would likely be about either travel or cooking. My mother always said of you can type and you can cook, then you can always get a job. THANK GOODNESS I turned out to be a really good cook. Always remember this: Worry is only a rehersal of the future. Worry does not change the outcome of ANYTHING!

  5. Raising a glass of diet tea to you Kathy! You have encouraged this moment, and I thank you!

Shellbell, I would love a good rant about Days lol I miss those. Tony went out with the guys yesterday, and would you believe, while the Eagles were getting their butts handed to them by the Cowboys, my Macho Man and his fellow Manly Men discussed what was happening on Days LOL

Teresa, let's make this the best year ever. Every day will be the beginning of our New Year, and we're going to do the best we can.

marshaal - would love to have you has a guest blogger. And you're so right about worry! I work on that one with my mom all of the time as she is the Queen of Worriers. But I must admit I'm already worrying about my kids coming home from Dubai next week.
